| News: [January 4, 2012] Happy New Year!!! We hope the holiday season left you feeling happy and rested, and ready to take on the New Year. It was great seeing so many of our seasonal owners and their guests at the property as everyone arrived to spend the holiday season in the beautiful Maui sunshine. We met some of our new owners as well who were here for the first time. And of course with the arrival of our seasonal people comes the arrival of our seasonal ocean visitors, the whales! Be sure to keep your eyes on the water if you are on island, and catch a glimpse of these graceful creatures as they play in the warm waters around our islands.
[December 1, 2011] Our sincere thanks to all of our owners who helped us to achieve quorum for this year's Annual Owners Meeting, through the large number of Proxy forms submitted, as well as the participation of those owners who were present for the meeting on November 12th. We had a productive meeting where the Association gained two new Directors, and welcomed back seven of our previous Directors. Together these nine filled all vacant seats on the Board. There were good discussions held between the Directors and owners present, and we feel the meeting was a very successful, informative event. While our Board and Administration were busy with the Annual Owners meeting, our Kihei Shores maintenance crew has been hard at work throughout the property. In the past few months they have been installing new ground cover and pool planters, repairing lanai and walkway soffits, and installing french drains in areas prone to puddling up during heavy rains. Additionally they conducted a unit by unit inspection of water lines to identify leaking items in need of repair, and potential leaks from aging valves, lines and water heaters. If your unit had any items of note during this inspection a report will be sent to you detailing items in need of repair or replacement. This week the crew is finishing up cleaning of the exterior dryer vents in all buildings. It is up to each occupant to clear the vent line from the back of the dryer to the wall. Coming up later this month is our Quarterly Pest Control (details to be posted on doors and throughout the property). We are also pleased to announce our first ever Community Yard Sale on December 10th. Thank you to our resident/owner volunteer who is co-ordinating this sale. If it proves successful it will become a regularly scheduled event 1-2 times each year. Happy Holidays from Kihei Shores! We hope the close of 2011 finds you happy, healthy, and surrounded with friends and loved ones.
[November 9, 2011] We are just a few days away from out Annual Owners Meeting, to be held this Saturday - November 12th, 9:00am at Kalama Heights, Garden Room. Much Mahalos to all of the owners who responded to our requests to submit Proxy forms in order to establish quorum. Your assistance is cery much appreciated and it looks like we may actually have the numbers to hold the meeting this year. Watch for updates here next week for summary run-down of the meeting. [October 11, 2011] It's hard to believe we are well into the month of October! Such a busy year already and much more to come before 2012. We are just one month away from our Annual Owners Meeting, which is scheduled for Saturday - November 12th. For more information on the upcoming Annual Owners Meeting, go to the AOAO tab above. November will not only bring some of our off island owners back to Maui for a visit, but sightings of humpback whales will start to become prevalent as whale season gets into full swing. (The first whale sightings of the season have already been reported.) The Maui County Fair just wrapped up for another year, while Halloween is slated to return to Front Street Lahaina at the end of this month. Then the holiday season will be upon us and we will be greeting 2012. Enjoy the coming days and weeks as 2011 winds down. With so much happening, it's sure to be a busy, exciting time for us all. [August 17, 2011] Aloha from beautiful Kihei, Maui! Hopefully your summer has been a pleasant one thus far. Life at Kihei Shores has been busy over the past few months. Demand for condos at Kihei Shores has been high resulting in a number of sales, bringing new owners to our AOAO. Our Board of Directors met in July to finalized the budget for the coming year. Our crew has been busy installing Areca palms in the green way between E & H bldgs., which will provide shade and privacy between bldgs. Looking to the coming months: - Quarterly pest control is Sept. 19th & 20th - Annual Owners Meeting is Nov. 12th **Owners, be sure to check the AOAO page for news on the 2011/12 Budget, Monthly HOA dues, and Annual Owners Meeting! [June 15, 2011] Don't forget...June 1st - November is Hurricane Season. Need info on Disaster Preparedness? Find answers to many of your questions and links to more info on our FAQ page. On Monday-Tuesday, June 20th & 21st, Mid-Pacific Pest Control will be here to conduct our quarterly pest control services. Please refer to door & office postings for full details and preparation information. [June 8, 2011] Web success! We recently changed our host server to better accommodate our web site and all of the features it offers for our owners, agents, & residents. We have had a couple of glitches as we've made the transition, but hope to have it working properly in no time. Now you should be able to access our calendar to find out about upcoming meetings, island events, scheduled pest control & more. Owners will be able to register in order to have to meeting minutes, items up for owner vote, along with ballots and proxy forms. If you are looking for information on our web site and don't find it, please contact us and let us know. If we are able to add it, we will! [March 18, 2011] Tsunami Scare - We are pleased to say that the tsunami came nowhere near Kihei Shores, so everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. The water did not reach any higher than the top of the beach at Kamaole III, which left us with a very pristine looking beach the next morning. Our thoughts and best wishes go to those in Japan who are unfortunately experience the worst that such an event can bring. [February 22, 2011] Whale season this year has brought us so many sightings, especially right at our front door, Kamaole Park III. Baby whales learning to play, & huge adult whales breaching, slapping and splashing in the water have made sunsets at Kam a phenomenal experience. Often this year the whales have been so close you can hear them slap the water, while appreciating their immense size as they cruise past the stand up paddle boarders just a couple hundred yards from shore. We certainly are fortunate to experience such majesty just a few steps from our front door. From the February 18th Maui News...
James Dorr gets up close with a baby humpback whale Tuesday. He said he and his wife, Glenys, were kayaking about a mile off of the Kihei Boat Ramp when the baby whale, its mother and a male escort approached them. “I put my underwater camera in the water and got this photo of the baby,” he said. “They swam about 100 yards and all breached at the same time. . . . Quite exciting.” Mid-February is about halfway through the winter whale season in Hawaiian waters.JAMES DORR photo

Mahalo to all of our Owners who have already returned their Owner Contact Update forms, and SurePay forms for those signing up for the automated payment service. We have received a lot of enthusiastic support for our move to self-management, and look forward to hearing from the rest of our owners through the end of the month. [January 13, 2011] [January 11, 2011] [November 10, 2010] This year's Annual Owner Meeting was held in the Garden Room at Kalama Heights, in Kihei. There was not enough owner participation to make quorum, so the meeting was unable to proceed. However, there was an informal Q & A session with owners who attended and the Board of Directors. Items discussed included possible upgrades to the common areas in the coming year, block watch and home security issues, and how Kihei Shores has weathered the economic downturn, and positive outlook for the future. |
